Who needs training?

Answer

Everyone! However, training needs will vary according to role and how each staff member interacts with Alma.

The areas most obvious training needs are for those who currently use Voyager for their daily operations. Extensive training will be geared towards each of these staff functions and workflows, so that we can ensure that on go-live staff are able to continue their daily operations with minimal disruption.

Staff who do not work inside the software will still receive training to understand how these changes impact their work and our users. For example, working in a consortium will give us access to view holdings at all partner institutions through a single search, and staff working in service points, instruction, and liaison roles will need to have an understanding of how to navigate new functionalities and assist with user questions and needs.

We will also need to train our users to help them effectively interact with the new software. With the retirement of TRELLIS' separate records policy for print and electronic, and the new shared network zone searching, staff should expect to have many opportunities to instruct users on how to navigate the changes.

No staff member needs to learn everything there is to know about Alma and OCUL-CF for day one implementation, however, every staff should expect to learn the information that will allow them to successfully perform their role.
